Elzie Tackett, October 12, 1931 – June 20, 2010. Born in Weeksbury, Kentucky to parents Henry and Rebecca Tackett; He served his country in the United States Army at Fort Champion in Arkansas; retired from Lucent Technologies after 31 years of service. He was a volunteer Little League Coach, Church Basketball Coach, and Cub Scout Leader. Elzie was also a member of Columbus United Baptist Church for many years. He is preceded in death by parents, and brothers Delzie and Oliver Tackett; sisters Dorothy Tackett, Ellie Tackett, Gladys McKinney, Sadie Johnson, and Edith Akers. Survived by loving wife Geraldine Flora Tackett; sons James (Karen) Chaney and Thomas Tackett; daughters Victoria (Tom) Felix and Catherine (James) Stepp; grandchildren David Stepp, Cheryll Meade (Mike), Shannon Stepp, James (Emily) Stepp, Brian Stepp, Timothy (Heather) Felix, Dakota (Danielle) Felix, Nicole Tackett, and Kristen Tackett; great-grandchildren Paige Meade, Kearstin Meade, Westson Meade, and Sean Felix; a host of loved nieces nephews, and cousins. Funeral service 1:30 p.m. Tuesday June 22, 2010 at Cotner Funeral Home 7369 E. Main St., Reynoldsburg. Family will receive friends at the funeral home 6 – 8 p.m. Monday and one hour prior to the funeral.
