On Tuesday morning, April 23, 2024, Linda “Fay” Barnett King’s, faith became sight, when she transitioned to glory. The angels rejoiced at her arrival but surely none more loudly than Rev. Bill Ray King, her devoted husband of 58 years, and her son’s Steve and Brian.
Fay embodied the attributes of the Proverbs 31 woman. She faithfully served the body of Christ for many years in her role as beloved daughter of the King and as pastor’s wife. Three of her favorite roles were “wife,” “mama” and “mam.” She loved the lord and her family and set an example for her children and grandchildren that will lead them all of their lives.
Fay was born in Carrothers, OH, on September 2, 1945, to the late William Oakley and Delphia Risner Barnett.
She is preceded in death by her parents William Oakley and Delphia Risner Barnett, her loving husband Rev. Bill Ray King, her son's Steve and Brian King; sisters Thelma Jean Barnett, Emma Jane Barnett Smith, and brothers James Donald Barnett and Ishmael Barnett.
Fay will be missed by her loving daughter Michelle Renee; daughter-in-law Natalie (Brian) King; grandchildren Levi, Ava, Dylan, Edan, Brylie; her brothers Kenneth Ray (Margo) Barnett, Melvin (Carol) Barnett, Robert Lee (Annette) Barnett; Sister-in-law Joyce (James) Barnett; Brother-in-law Gordon (Emma) Smith; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
Fay was known for her sweet and quite spirit and for loving large. She always believed the best, gave everyone the benefit of the doubt, and never had a harsh or unkind word to say about anyone. Though she was a humble and gentle woman that preferred staying behind the scenes, Fay was nonetheless a powerful prayer warrior, and only heaven knows what a wonderful and eternal impact all her many years of faithful praying have had on her family, her friends, and the world at large. She was an example to all of us for how to live and while her presence will be missed, her impact will live on for all eternity.
When talking with Fay it was usually not too long before you would hear her signature phrase “but God.” The word “but” in Scripture often introduces the message of the gracious and compassionate intervention of God. This simple term captures the nature of our God. He redeems, resurrects, “and makes all things new.” All seems lost then we hear, “but God.” He intervenes. He saves. Fay experienced more then her fair share of earthly hardships and pain but never once waivered in her faith. For her, it was always “but God.”
A celebration of Fay’s life and her being “made new” will be held on Friday, April 26, 2024, at Potter's House, 1001 Rosehill Road, Reynoldsburg, Ohio where her family will receive friends and family from 3-4pm (visitation) and service starting at 4:00pm.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to help Linda‘s daughter Michelle with expenses.
