Bella Decot Obituary

Bella Darlene Decot, age 19, of New Lexington, Ohio gained her heavenly wings after a fierce and hard fought battle. Bella is a 2023 graduate of New Lexington High School, where she was an honor roll student and is a 4 year varsity letter winner in soccer. She had such an impact on her teammates and coaches. There is a annual award in her honor, "The Bella Decot Courage Award". Bella’s legacy will remain strong and live on in New Lexington High School. Not only did she impact the school but also her community as she advocated for the New Lexington City Council to pass a resolution recognizing September as Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. She loved her pets and animals and planned to pursue a career as a Veterinarian at Ohio University.

She is preceded in death by her Grandmother Dixie Darlene Woodruff Leonard. Bella is survived by her immediate family, parents Kyle and Sandra Decot; brothers Mason, Jake and Ross and her cat Oliver. Grandmother Carol Darelle Decot; Grandfather Timothy L. Decot; Grandfather Anthony (Kimberly) Shalosky. Bella’s time with her Aunt Leslie, Uncle Ernie and Uncle Dustin along with other family and friends were always special to her. Her strength, love, and kindness will be forever remembered in the lives she inspired.

Close family and friends will be received on Friday from 5-7 p.m. at the Cotner Funeral Home, 7369 E. Main Street, Reynoldsburg, where services from Pastor Sanford Short will follow at 7:00 p.m. A Celebration of Life ceremony will be held at a later date in New Lexington, Ohio for the public.

Donations may be made in honor of Bella to Team Bella at any People's State Bank in Perry County. She always wanted to help others and these donations in her honor will be used in the continuing fight against Childhood Cancer.
