Bruce Heimrich Obituary

Bruce Alan Heimrich, 68, of Reynoldsburg, passed away Saturday, March 29, 2025.

He is preceded in death by his parents, James and Evelyn Heimrich.

He is survived by his wife Ginny; brother Mark (Susan) Heimrich; and many cousins.

Bruce grew up in the Huber Ridge area of Westerville, and was a proud member of the Ridge Rats.

Bruce had a few jobs before graduating from The Ohio State University with an Electrical Engineering degree, but this is when he started his 32 year career at Newark AFB  doing the work he loved. The majority of which he worked mostly on hardware on the aircraft side of the house. One of his long-term big projects was where he was the team lead to develop a huge shake and bake oven for complete systems in the lab. The oven took up an entire room and would shake entire guidance systems while “baking” them at high temperatures.

He had diverse interests. He was an engineering geek but also an athlete, competing with close friends as he played a variety of sports, including ping pong, tennis, softball, volleyball, walleyball, and golf. He also loved boating and skiing. However, he cherished those conversations with his dad and brother, usually about how to fix electrical or mechanical things around the house. His idea of fun was to attend a variety of OSU sports, particularly football and tennis. His love of music ranged from classical to rock to grunge.

Although he didn't get to see the Cleveland Browns come back to their former glory, he left us in a year when Ohio State won the NCAA football championship. If he knew he had only a few things left to say, one would be "and Michigan still sucks. Go Bucks! "

His family will receive friends on Thursday, April 3, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Cotner Funeral Home, 7369 E. Main Street, Reynoldsburg, where his service will be held at 12:30 p.m. with interment to follow at Blendon Central Cemetery.

If attending the viewing or funeral, please feel comfortable wearing your favorite sports team shirt.
