Carol "Sue" Richardson

Carol "Sue" Richardson, born August 12, 1946, passed away peacefully on December 3, 2025, in Reynoldsburg, Ohio, at the age of 79.

Born in Martins Ferry, Ohio to Roy and Dorothy Darrah, Sue experienced a childhood shaped by her father’s service as a WWII Air Force fighter pilot. The family moved frequently, offering her a life rich in varied experiences. She completed high school in Heathrow, England, before returning to the United States, where she remained.

Sue is lovingly remembered by her daughters, Christine Shankwitz-Chester (Craig Prim) and Denise Shankwitz-Partlow (Bill Partlow), who carry forward her strength and warmth. Her cherished grandchildren—Tiffani Chester, Zachary Simms, and Jacob Simms—and 3 beautiful great grandchildren -Ayden Denig, Callie Simms and Ryleigh Simms to continue her legacy with pride. She is also remembered by her brothers Larry Darrah (Carol) and Bill Darrah (Diane Wharton), along with numerous extended family members. She was preceded in death by her youngest brother, Michael Darrah, and her parents.

Sue found joy and companionship through her involvement with the Fraternal Order of Eagles, where lasting friendships brought laughter and meaning to her later years. A devoted Ohio State Buckeyes fan, she proudly wore OSU gear from head to toe and never missed a chance to cheer on her team.

Music was a lifelong passion for Sue. She especially enjoyed listening to Fleetwood Mac, Bob Segar, Elton John and The Eagles and continued to dance along with their songs whenever she could.

A Celebration of Life will be held on December 14, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Fraternal Order of Eagles, 1623 Brice Rd. Reynoldsburg, Ohio.
