Christopher “Chris” James Smith, 30, of Whitehall, passed away Sunday, March 21, 2021. Chris was a 2009 graduate of Whitehall Yearling High School where he was a member of the band. He attended Capital University and Columbus State Community College. Chris enjoyed online gaming, comic books, manga, and animation. He loved history and especially Richard Nixon. He was an avid gourmet foodie.
Chris is preceded in death by his grandfathers James Ira Evans and James Lee Smith; great-grandparents Edith and John Mahon, Hazel May and Leila Young; great great-grandmother Myrtle Rahn; great aunt and great uncles William and Martha Evans and Emil Hall. Chris is survived by his loving parents David and Julia Smith; grandmothers Joan Evans and Liane Smith; aunts and uncles Jennifer and Rick Lindsay, Jill and Steve Covey, Doug and Geri Smith, and Dan Smith; cousins Jessica (Eric) Goodrich, Sophia Goodrich; Ashley Lindsay (Nate Thompson), Holly Covey (Kade Brantley), Josslyn Brantley, Steven Covey, Chad Hall, Luke Hall, Gavin and Abby Smith; many other aunts, uncles, cousins; and Loki Dog of Mischief.
Chris’ family will receive friends 2-4 p.m. Sunday, March 28, 2021 at Cotner Funeral Home 7369 East Main Street Reynoldsburg where his funeral will follow at 4 p.m.
