Clifford Slone Obituary

Cliff passed away peacefully at home, into the loving hands of the Lord after his 3 year battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his children and his special friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Joyce A. Slone (Tackett); sons, Gary and Gregory; grandson, Gary; and great granddaughter, Kamielya; grandparents, Benjamin and Phoebe Jane Slone; parents, Hiram Short and Ida Slone; brother, Frank and other half brothers and sisters.

He is survived by his daughters, Sandra Manns (Doug); Deborah Reyneke; son, Larry (Debbie); 10 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren;17 great great grandchildren; and numerous step grand and great grandchildren; his special friend, Wilma and her children, Creig (Cathy); Kim; Tammy (Bill); Michael (Oksana) and each of their families; and also good friends, Bob and Doris; and Tony and Von.

Cliff was born in Pippa Passes, Kentucky and remained there until he joined the US Army 16th Infantry Regiment at age 17 and was based in Germany. He then married his wife, Joyce, and moved to Ohio where they raised their 5 children. During this time, he served in the Army Reserves, then the National Guard and on occasion, worked as a security guard. Cliff also retired from Timken Roller Bearing Company after 30 years of service.

At age 33, Cliff gave his heart to Jesus and later became an ordained minister. His passion was preaching at various churches and reading his Bible. He was also a member of the Reynoldsburg Free Will Baptist Church.

Cliff enjoyed singing and playing music with his friends and family.  He even wrote his own religious songs to sing. He was a special man with many talents. He did string art, built birdhouses, painted beautiful pictures on canvas of anything that came to mind, as well as painting special ones for family and friends. He could take a lid from a can and turn it into a unique piece of art. This is just naming a few.  He, also, enjoyed watching his favorite show, Gunsmoke.

Another favorite was to feed the birds and the squirrels, sometimes twice a day. One squirrel would sit on the top of the fence or sit up while on the patio looking at his door until he threw peanuts out for him.

Cliff touched the lives of everyone he met and he will be greatly missed.
