Constance Anne Kocher, 83, passed away peacefully on October 22nd at the Gables of Westerville where she had lived the last five months.
Connie battled cancer for the last year of her life with grace, strength, and a positive spirit.
The family is grateful to the Capital City Hospice team that cared so lovingly for her during this time.
She was born to Wayne and Ethel Lucas on June 22, 1942, in Bloomington, Illinois.
She went to Trinity Lutheran School and Bloomington High School. She graduated from Illinois State University with an English teaching degree. After teaching high school English, she attended The Ohio State University and received a master’s degree in English. She then embarked upon her tech writing and eventually human resources career. She reluctantly retired at the age of 75 from Hendrickson Industries where she still has many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Robert Kocher, her sisters Janet Whitwood, and brothers David (Pam) and William Lucas. Two of her four children also preceded her in death, John (Katrina) Kudart and Elizabeth (Todd) Whitaker.
Connie is survived by her daughter, Abby (John) Fowler, and son Joseph Kudart of Columbus. Her sister, Cathy (Robin) Dexter of Bellingham, Washington. Connie was blessed to have seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She has many cherished nieces, and nephews. She was a grammy to many and leaves countless grieving friends.
Connie loved family gatherings, plants, card-making, travelling, and casino trips. During her life and career, she inspired and mentored many people. Connie was witty, smart, and concerned for the less fortunate.
