Cynthia Jean Steinke Anderson passed away on April 15th, 2024 at Hospice of Central Ohio-OSU Wexner Medical Center after long battles with multiple illnesses. She was born to Katherin Minnie Culbertson and Leo Marion Steinke on December 19th, 1953 in Huntsville, AL. Cindy was a graduate of Reynoldsburg High School, class of 1972. While creative and multi-talented, her star shone its brightest during her many years working at the Hilltonia and Hilltop Branches of Columbus Metropolitan Libraries and for the Adult Services department of the Grove City Library. She was an early Greater Hilltop Area Commissioner, co-founding member of the Hilltop Historical Society, and member of Sunset Literary, Highland Garden, and Locusts Clubs. In the early 1990's, she was one of the first recipients of the Hilltop Business Association's Women of Character Awards.
Cindy was preceded in death by her father, Leo, brother James Paul Steinke, ex-husband Dean C. Keplar, Jr., and husband Steven August Anderson. She is survived by her mother, Katherin, daughter Jennifer Katherin Keplar, son John Leo (Kirsten) Keplar, brother David Michael (Cheri) Steinke, nephews Matthew Steinke and Rey Steinke, and grandchildren Katie and Robert Adams. She is also survived by lifelong friend Steve Reischman, and family friends, Laura Huffman, Todd Brockman, and Ken Winders. All have provided immense support to Cindy and her family in this difficult time.
The family would like extend is deepest gratitude to the staff at The James Cancer Research Hospital and Hospice of Central Ohio for their expertise and excellent care of both Cindy and our family.
A Memorial service will be held in Cynthia's honor on Saturday, May 4 at the Columbus Metropolitan Library, Hilltop Branch, 511 Hague Avenue, Columbus, Ohio 43204. Visiting will be from 3-4:00, with the service beginning at 4:00 pm.
