Cynthia Sue Gibson, passed away Tuesday, April 11th, 2023 peacefully at home. She was surrounded by family before going home to The Lord. A member of Grace Fellowship Church, Cynthia more commonly known as Cindi, graduated from Centerville High school. She was a devoted loving mother, wife, sister, friend and will be deeply missed.
One of her many passions was serving in the community. Some of which include Meals on Wheels, woman’s homeless shelters, and food banks. She also loved music and theater. She was a gifted flute player and enjoyed volunteering at CAPA as an usher. Cindi loved animals, gardening, vacationing on a beach and hiking national parks.
Cindi was one of the first female graduates of The Ohio State University with a degree in criminology. Professionally she served Franklin County Common Pleas Court for a total of 35 years. Starting as a probation officer, then later managing a team of PSI writers. She was well respected and served as Interim Chief of the Adult Probation Department. One of Cindi’s career highlights was assisting in the development of a community program, Bridges out of Poverty. This program helped single mothers support their families.
Cindi is preceded in death by her parents Shirley and George Strahler, and brother James Bradley Strahler. Survived by her husband Jon C. Gibson, sister Christy (Frank) Barnett, daughter Erica C. Gibson, son Jon C. Gibson II, a niece, nephews, family and friends throughout the community.
Celebration of life will be held at 6pm, Thursday, April 20, 2023 at Cotner Funeral Home, 7369 E Main St, Reynoldsburg, OH 43068., where family will receive friends from 4pm until the start of service. The family requests that donations be made to The James Cancer Treatment and Research Center. Arrangements entrusted to Cotner Funeral Home.
