Mrs. Cindy Ann Yost, age 72, passed away peacefully surrounded by family, on January 19, 2026, at The James Wexner Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio. Cindy was Born on November 5, 1953, in Camp Carson, Colorado. She married her best friend, Robert Yost, on October 10th, 1986. She lived a life rooted in faith, service, and love for her family and friends.
A proud graduate of Mount Vernon High School in 1972, Cindy pursued higher education with determination and purpose to help people. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from Bowling Green State University in 1975, where she was an active member of the Phi Mu Sorority. Her academic journey continued at The Ohio State University, where she completed her Master’s degree in 1980. She worked as a psychiatric social worker for Mound Builders, located in Newark, Ohio.
Cindy's life was a testament to servant leadership. As a Girl Scout Leader, she was honored with the Leader of the Year award for her dedication and mentorship. Her commitment to civic engagement extended to board positions with the Reynoldsburg Civic Club and meaningful contributions to the Reynoldsburg Historical Society, where she helped preserve the stories and heritage of her community.
Her spiritual life was central to who she was. Since 1994, Cindy was a devoted member of Reynoldsburg United Methodist Church. Her unwavering faith and active participation were recognized with a Lifetime Award. She found deep connection through fellowship in Bible study groups such as the Golden Girls and Miriam Circle.
Cindy expressed her creativity through crafting and card-making and shared her warmth through cooking for those around her. She took great joy in caring for her daughters and spending time with loved ones. She was happiest amongst her family and good friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ronald William Mason, and Betty Jane (Darling) Mason.
She is lovingly remembered by her husband, Robert Yost; daughters Ashley (Alex Plank) Yost, and Kelsey Yost; brother Richard Mason; sister-in-law Kimberly Mason; nephews Brock Mason, Brady Mason, Austin Dernberger, Evan Dernberger; nieces Lindsay Dernberger, Channel Cannada, and Lauren Bilby; sister- in-law Diana Cochran; brother-in- law; Tara Cochran; sister-in-law; Kim Dernberger; brother-in-law; John Dernberger; brother-in-law Mike (Connie) Yost.
Her family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 28th from 4-7pm at Cotner Funeral Home, 7369 East Main Street, Reynoldsburg , Ohio. Her funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 29th, at 11am. Graveside Service to follow at Glen Rest Memorial Estates, Reynoldsburg, Ohio.
