David Buckenberger Obituary

David James Buckenberger, passed away Friday, September 30, 2022.  He was born January 9, 1961 to Biruta Buckenberger and the late James Buckenberger . David grew up loving nature as a result of many years spent on family vacations in Michigan (Traverse City and Interlochen) and at the family cabin at Hide-Away-Hills Resort in the Hocking Hills. David enjoyed fishing, boating, and motor biking around the hills. He had many varied interests including playing the saxophone and bassoon, his love of jazz music and corvettes, and flying radio controlled model airplanes with his Dad in the Tailspinners club which they did together for many years. Scouting was also a big part of his life and David especially loved campouts. He loved them so much that in his later adult years he invited friends to camp outs in his backyard. He truly enjoyed his house and property in Harrison Township. David had a knack for cooking - he enjoyed trying new recipes and he loved to entertain. He really loved his family and friends and he had many who cared about him as evidenced by the frequent visitors during his recent month long hospital stay. David was a graduate of Franklin University and he worked for 24 years at JP Morgan Chase.David was a lifelong member of Messiah Lutheran Church where he was a choir member, an acolyte, and an usher during his fifty eight years of attending.
David is preceded in death by his father James Buckenberger and survived by his loving mother, Biruta Buckenberger who was by his side everyday during his hospitalization, sister Lori Colbert, nephew/niece Grant, Grace and Izzy Colbert, uncle/aunt William and Jennie Buckenberger, and his cousins Bill, Steve, and Jeff Wittman, Sandra Wittman-Shell, Karyn Butler and their wonderful families.
David was a transplant recipient who was given 13 extra years of life because of a generous organ donor. Donations can be made in his name to Donate Life America or Messiah Lutheran Church in Reynoldsburg.
He had a bumper sticker that read “Donate Life”  so please sign up to be a donor to honor him as well.
