David C. Drennen of Reynoldsburg, age 89, passed away on Wednesday, January 25, 2023. He is survived by two sons, Charles M. (Doreen) Drennen of Johnstown and Steven E. (Bonnie) Drennen of Reynoldsburg; two daughters, Dianne L. Drennen and Carol A. Drennen of Grove City; two granddaughters, Stephanie Skeens and Katie Jo Drennen; 5 grandsons, Tom, Matt and Dan Drennen, Eric Drennen and Jim Skeens; two great granddaughters and 7 great grandsons; numerous nieces and nephews
David was born in Marietta, Ohio in 1934. He graduated from Marietta High School in 1951 and Marietta College in 1955 with a B.S. degree in Physics. He played football and basketball in high school and college. He was a member of the Marietta College basketball teams that won the OAC conference in the 1953-54 and 1954-55 seasons. In 1998, he was inducted into the Marietta College Sports Hall of Fame.
David was employed at BF Godrich in Marietta after graduating from college and then worked 20 years at Battelle Columbus Laboratories as a Research Scientist and at Tosoh SMD (formerly Varian Specialty Metals Division for 22 years as Plant Metallurgist, Quality Control Manager, Purchasing Manager and Senior Technical Buyer.
David enjoyed sports, fishing and hunting, especially bowhunting for deer. David was a member and elder for the Parkview Presbyterian Church in Reynoldsburg. He delivered Meals on Wheels for over 9 years in Reynoldsburg.
David was preceded in death by his wife of 69 years, Dorothea B. (Bertram) Drennen; his parents David E. and Marian M. Drennen; his brothers Grant (Frances) Drennen, William
(Marilyn) Drennen; his sisters Mary (Charles) Caldwell, Wilma (Donald) Foster, Amelia Houser.
A private family service will be held at the Chapel in Forest Lawn Cemetery with Gentiva Hospice Chaplain Rev. Dennis Barnhart conducting the service and with inurnment following the service.
