Derek Still Obituary

Derek Adam Still, 33, of Reynoldsburg, OH was born on July 30th, 1990 to Crystal (Lundquist Still) Davies and Clifford Still at Travis AFB in Fairfield, CA. He returned to his Heavenly Home on April 8, 2024.

Derek lived in California, Idaho, Tennessee, Utah, and Michigan before settling in Reynoldsburg, Ohio his sophomore year of high school. He participated in theater in both Jr high and both high schools he attended. His proudest moments of his theater days were earning a solo in “Annie” in Jr high and nailing the Russian dance in “Fiddler on the Roof” in high school.

He was an avid reader of fantasy books and an avid cartoon watcher. He wrote poetry and was a lover of literature and Japanese Anime. Derek was an AP Scholar at Reynoldsburg High School where he graduated from in 2009.

Derek served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the California Roseville Mission. On his return, he attended college at BYU-Idaho where he studied History.

When he came back to Reynoldsburg from college, he started working at Grifols Plasma Center. He had donated so much plasma while in college, he understood the importance of the work and the need for good help in the industry. He loved his job where he was currently the Lead Plasma Processor and had just trained for alternate management and received a promotion to work in quality control. He was a dedicated employee, serving at Grifols for 10 years.

There was no other role Derek loved more than those of “son” and “big brother”. Derek was a loving son and a special friend to his mother and a great help to her with his younger siblings.

He was the oldest of 5 children and understood the heavy weight of being an example to his siblings. He took his big brother “responsitility” very seriously. His love for them was beyond measure though he didn’t always tell them. He did his best, in his Derek way, to show them.

Derek passed from natural causes on April 8, 2024. He came to the earth earlier than he was expected and he left this earth earlier than expected. In heaven he was reunited with his “Grandma Duke”, Ruth (Mower Lundquist) Baker, his “Pop Pop”, Clifford Alexander Still and “Grandma Mary”, Mary Jackson along with other loving relatives.

His family on earth- Mom and Dad Crystal and Les Davies, his Dad Clifford Still and his wife Yaling and siblings Bryan Still, Justin Davies, Teagan Davies, and Benjamin Davies will continue to love him and cherish him until they are reunited again.

His bonus siblings; Tori Bringedahl, Doug Neiheisel, and Vincent Neiheisel, Leslie Davies, Brandon Davies, Stephanie Davies, Chelsea Winegar and Ashley Searle, and his extended family of numerous uncles, aunts and cousins who all loved him, will miss him.

His family thanks his friends and work family and all with whom he was fondly acquainted for embracing him on his life journey.

His family will receive friends on Sunday, April 14, from 5 - 7 p.m. at Cotner Funeral Home, 7369 East Main Street, Reynoldsburg, Ohio. Derek's funeral will be held on Monday, April 15, 2024 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 2135 Baldwin Road, Reynoldsburg, with visiting from 11:00 am. - 12:00 p.m. His service will begin at 12:00 p.m.
