Doris Grant Obituary

Doris E. Grant, age 96, passed away peacefully Tuesday, January 4, 2022. She was a charter member of Epworth United Methodist Church, where she actively served and shared her faith. Doris had been a teller and bookkeeper for National City Bank and known for being a stickler for details. After raising her son, she reentered the workforce at GW Banning and Associates, and also worked in various retail stores to “keep her mind going”. Doris enjoyed dancing, big band music, a great game of “halsey” (euchre with a double deck of cards) and events that pulled her family together. Doris was selfless, always thinking of others while building a strong foundation of love and forgiveness within her family. Above all, she was a loving, compassionate, devoted wife and mother. Since the passing of her beloved husband 30 years ago, (Jan 3, 1991) her grandchildren have been the center of her life. She enjoyed their school concerts, sporting events and personal growth as a proud involved grandparent. Doris was very excited to experience the birth of her first great grandchild in May of 2022, as well as upcoming weddings and graduations of her grandchildren. Her family is confident she will experience these wonderful events from Heaven with all those that have passed before her. She is preceded in death by her husband Jack W. Grant; parents Herman and Mary (Bradford) Hultz, sisters Bettie J. (Hultz) and her husband Rev. Donald E. Barss, Margaret (Hultz) Darr and her husband James L. Darr, brother Jack Hultz, and his wife (Marvene) and nephew Keith Hultz. Doris is survived by her son Jack P. Grant (Carmalea), grandchildren Olivia (Troy) Rudman, Jackson (Glendine) Grant, Autumn Grant, Jeffrey Grant; niece Anne E. Barss, nephew Rev. Reg (Jane) Barss, nephews Gregory J. (Elana) Darr, Craig (Katie) Hultz, Jackie Hultz (Keith) and Scott Hultz; great-nieces and nephews and many church and long-life family friends. A private family graveside service will be held Friday at Southlawn Cemetery, Coshocton, Ohio, Pastor Jennifer Casto, of Epworth United Methodist Church, officiating. A celebration of life honoring Doris will be held at a future date. Her family asks that no flowers be sent but rather donations in her honor could be made to Epworth United Methodist Church,(https://epworthonkarl.org/ ) The Foundation for Sarcoidosis research, ( https://stopsarcoidosis.rallybound.org/Donate ), Johnstown Pointe Nursing and Rehabilitation ( https://johnstown-pointe.foundationshealth.net/ ), or Kobacker House.(https://foundation.ohiohealth.com/ )
