Edward Hoover Wiswell of Johnstown died suddenly from a heart attack Sunday afternoon February 14, 2021 at the age of 67. He was preceded in death by his parents William and Merna Wiswell and brother James W. Wiswell. He is survived by his wife Mary Wiswell, sons William Wiswell, Joseph Wiswell, Edward Wiswell and daughter Amanda Linn Rhyan; grandchildren Daniel Josiah, Amber, Wes, Ben and Victoria; brother Mike (Hilary Apfelstadt) Wiswell, sister Melissa Core as well as several nieces and nephews.
Ed was born on December 9, 1953 in Columbus, Ohio and grew up in Reynoldsburg, graduating from Reynoldsburg High School in 1972. He enlisted in the US Army and served as a Military Policeman in Germany. Following his military service, he spent his career as a meat cutter working for Super Duper, Gateway Markets, Big Bear and Giant Eagle.
An Eagle Scout, he spent his life as a Scout Master and guide for young people. He enjoyed the many weekends he spent camping and hiking with the Scouts.
Ed’s family will receive friends 11am to 1pm on Friday, February 19, 2021 at Cotner Funeral Home at 7369 Main Street in Reynoldsburg where his funeral service will be held at 1pm, followed by interment at Glen Rest Memorial Estate in Reynoldsburg.
