Freda Mae Parsons

Freda Mae Parsons, 89, of Reynoldsburg, passed away on June 6, 2025. Freda was born on August 14, 1935 to the late Mirrel and Leola (Waybright) Matheny in Gay, W.Va. Preceded in death by her son Jeffrey Burns Parsons and siblings Mirrel Matheny Jr., Roy Wayne Matheny, Denver Clair Matheny, Donald Eugene Matheny, and Ida Catherine Winter. Freda is survived by sister Virginia (Keith) Dare Durst, her son Greg (Michelle) Parsons and her beloved grandchildren Casey Parsons and Sydney (Nathan) Wright.

She worked at Columbus Metro Credit Union for 27 years before retiring as Vice President. After retirement she began a second career as a volunteer for over 20 years at the Reynoldsburg Cancer Thrift Shop helping many and making lifelong friends.

She enjoyed travel including Europe, the Western US, Cincinnati Reds spring training trips with her friends and vacations with her family. She was an avid Buckeye fan and enjoyed watching sports of all kinds including golf, tennis and football.

Her graveside service will be held on Friday, June 13, at 3pm at Glen Rest Memorial Estates, 8029 East Main Street, Reynoldsburg, to allow for friends and family to share memories that they have of Freda. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in support of the Reynoldsburg Cancer Thrift Shop and Lifecare Alliance at The Columbus Foundation
