Garner Weir Obituary

Garner Keith Weir, aged 93, passed away peacefully, Sunday November 10, 2024. He was surrounded by his loving wife of 74 years Pat, son Jon, and daughters Terri and Chris. Born February 20, 1931, Garner spent his life indulging in his passions and sharing his talents with those around him.

Garner was born in Mallory, West Virginia and graduated from Gilbert High School. Following graduation, he married the love of his life Pat, moved to Logan, West Virginia and started their family with their first daughter Brenda. In Logan, he worked for United Gas Company for 8 years before moving his family to the great state of Ohio.

Upon arriving in Columbus, he soon embarked on a fulfilling career at Western Electric, where he dedicated 27 years before retiring in 1987. Beyond his professional life, Garner was remarkably talented in playing musical instruments. He was self-taught on guitar, piano, accordion, banjo, harmonica, and even the kazoo. He was known for his unique ability to play any song by ear despite never learning to read music.

His love for music was paralleled by his passion for antiques, particularly old Victrolas, which he meticulously refinished, restoring them to their former glory. Garner's knack for transformation extended to furniture, where he turned ordinary pieces into extraordinary treasures, often discovered at auctions, yard sales, or thrift stores. Not to forget his love for discounts and bargains, if it was a good deal, he found it and shared it.

Although he was passionate about all of these things, he had no greater love than that for his family.

He is survived by his loving wife of 74 years Patricia A. Weir; his children Terri W. Case, Jon Weir (Cindy); Christina Dryden (David) and son in law Jan Feder. 8 Grandchildren- Michael Fletcher (Tracy); Jason Weir (Emma); Jordan Weir (Sarah); Hannah Weir; Emma Williams (David); Zachary Dryden (Christina); Noah Dryden (Katy); Savannah Snyder (Owen); 6- Great grandchildren Gracie, Lily, Sophie, Caroline, Titus and Baby Dryden due January 2025.

He was preceded in death by his parents, seven siblings and his loving daughter Brenda Feder.
