Gary Lee Saunders

Gary Lee Saunders, 68, passed away peacefully on August 4, 2023. Gary was born on January 12, 1955 in Columbus, OH to the late Stanley and Irene (Holley) Saunders. Gary was also preceded in death by his brother, Larry Saunders.

Gary is survived by his loving sister-in-law, Valerie Myers; two aunts, and numerous cousins.

Gary was a 1980 graduate of the Columbus Technical Institute. He retired as a Chef from Nationwide and catered to Picnic With The Pops where his passion for cooking delighted many people. He served as an Usher at the Ohio Theater and was also a Camp Counselor at Camp Kwanhee. Gary was a member of the Columbus African Violet Society of America. He was later inducted into the Ohio State Fair Hall of Fame as an exhibitor and volunteer.

Gary’s family is grateful for the care provided by his caregivers, Sharon and Doug Minton.

Gary’s family will receive friends on Friday, August 18, 2023 from Noon to 1:00pm at the Cotner Funeral Home, 7369 E. Main St. Reynoldsburg, OH, where his funeral service will be held at 1:00 with Pastor Jerry Smith officiating. Internment Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
