Gloria Jean Watkins, 82 of Reynoldsburg, Ohio, passed away from cerebral vascular dementia on March 4th at Sage Park Assisted Living and Memory Care. She received wonderful, compassionate care from both Gentiva Hospice and Sage Park.
She is preceded in death by her mother and father, Mary and Octavio Sebenello, the father of her children, James M. Watkins, and brother -in -law, Ralph McHugh.
Gloria is survived by her daughter, Tina M. Andrews and son James T. Watkins (Karin), granddaughters, Madalyn G. Ciprich (Jake) and Rachel L. Watkins, sister Elizabeth A. McHugh, along with her three nieces, Tami, Michele, Andraia, and many friends.
Gloria was born on June 26th, 1942, in Piney Fork, Ohio. She graduated in 1960 with honors from Smithfield High School. She was a Varsity Cheerleader and a journalist for the Spartan Sports Newsletter.
She was employed by M&M Hardware, as an Office Manager, in Steubenville. Upon moving to Reynoldsburg, she stayed home to raise her children, then returned to the workforce as a unit clerk at Mount Carmel East Hospital, followed by 25 years of employment as an Office Manager at Midwest Chemical Supply.
She was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church and in her younger years she made rosaries for the church. She had an abundance of love and faith in Jesus Christ.
Gloria was known as the “Neighborhood Caregiver,” from driving friends to doctor appointments, making telephone calls to the elderly, she thoroughly enjoyed helping those in need. Gloria was known as a prayer warrior and was the individual that always said grace at family get togethers. Her utmost joy in life was spending time with her granddaughters, from making her famous angel hair pasta, taking trips to the park, and reading countless number of books to them through the years. She was known to give cards that had letters of encouragement, love, prayers, and poetry.
She was a devoted, caring mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend and was affectionately known as Googie and GiGi.
Gloria's family will receive friends on Monday, March 10, 2025 from 10:00 am to 12 Noon at the Cotner Funeral Home, 7369 E. Main St. Reynoldsburg, OH where her funeral service will be held at 12 Noon with Pastor Dennis Barnhart officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
