Grace Evelyn Burton, 92, passed away at home on Thursday, November 19, 2020. Grace was born April 21, 1928 in Huntington Township, a few miles from Chillicothe, Ohio to Francis and Edith Marie (Hafner) Brofft. Grace died from complications of cancer. In the words of Stuart Scott, ESPN sports anchor; “When you die it does not mean that you lose to cancer. You beat cancer by how you live, why you live, and the manner in which you live.” 2 Timothy 6:7, “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” Grace was a Christian and a member of Laurel Canyon Church of Christ.
Grace was a 1946 graduate of Huntington Township High School and she was valedictorian of her class. She married Paul on December 5, 1952. Grace loved the Lord and the church and was faithful reading the Bible every day and praying. Grace loved her family and her many friends. Many people remember her for her homemade cinnamon rolls.
Grace is survived by her children David (Nancy) Burton and Steven (Darlene) Burton; grandchildren Rebecca (Tyler) Chambers, Laura, and Jessica; great-grandsons Brayden and Benjamin. She is preceded in death by husband Paul; her parents Francis and Edith Brofft; sisters Virginia Broft and Beatrice Bethel; and brother Carl Brofft.
Grace’s family will receive friends 2-4 p.m. Sunday, November 22, 2020 at Cotner Funeral Home, 7369 East Main St. Reynoldsburg. Private graveside service at Maplewood Cemetery, New Albany. Honorary pall bearers Ron Bethel, Eddie Fleming, Phil Murphy and Brian Teeters.
