Hans Rolf W. Bauer, 94, of Reynoldsburg, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, April 11, 2023. He was born in Hildburghausen, Germany on July 13, 1928. At a young age he played the violin, and loved to play for all his neighbors. Hans was drafted at fourteen years old into the German military. After surviving as a prisoner of war in France, he came to the United States and joined the Army to continue a life of service. While serving, he married the love of his life Joyce, and began building their family. After the military he began working for Bell Laboratories. Hans was a longtime member of St. Pius X Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. He loved doing volunteer work with his wife, calligraphy writing, playing cards and games with his family. Most recently he had been designing and hooking rugs. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. He is preceded in death by loving wife Joyce Bauer, mother Helene Bauer-Pils, step-father Henry Pils, and son John Bauer. Hans is survived by children Joan Warner, Brian (Meredith) Bauer, and Joyce (Glen) Siniff; sister Marilyn Miranda; 10 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, extended family in Germany, and a host of close friends. His family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 19, from 5-7pm at Cotner Funeral Home, 7369 East Main Street, Reynoldsburg. His funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 20, at 10:30am at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 1051 Waggoner Road, Reynoldsburg, Ohio. Graveside service to follow at Glen Rest Memorial Estates.
