Hazel Kellett, 95, passed onto heaven on July 3, 2024. Her daughter, Debbie Kellett Dade has taken impeccable care of her and allowed her to live as she wanted, in her own home and go peacefully. Grandma Kellett is forged from the toughest there is. She was born February 24th, 1929, during the Great Depression. At the age of 7 months, her birth mother died from lead poisoning in the water. She was the youngest of 4. As a result, she and her brother were taken into foster care and led a life of obstacles. She never complained. Thankfully, at the age of 16, her grandmother rescued her from a bad foster home where she was caring for 4 children. From there, she was able to attend school again full time and eventually met our grandpa and they married and had 4 children in 5.5 years! Grandma is known for her amazing BEAR HUGS, great cooking (she could have had her own restaurant, as everyone devoured her food), and for her good advice. She always said “she was in her second childhood”, she said we are “all God’s children”. She loved democracy, freedom and history. She could quote specific dates and events up until the end. She read the newspaper daily and always wanted to know and speak the truth. Our sweet Grandma who’s cuss word was “fiddlesticks” and never drank alcohol, always tried to have fun. She had the best handwriting and sweetest voice ever! She also loved her soap operas and watching her OSU Buckeyes. Just like when we were little and would practice smiling like her, we will continue to emulate this magnificent woman. She is a phoenix who would always rise through the hardships!! Her last days, she had no food for 12 days, had congestive heart failure and leukemia and never spent time complaining about them. Just mention them and move on to say how blessed we all were. She will be greatly missed, and we all love her to pieces. Welcoming her into heaven are her parents; her husband William Kellett, Sr; her sons Bill Kellett and Mike Kellett; many other extended family members and friends. Hazel is survived by daughters Debbie Dade and Sharon Snider; grandchildren Renee (Bobby) Renn, Neil Snider, Brian (Erika) Kellett, Brittany (Brian) Wheitner, and Steven Dade; great grandchildren Madison, Matthew, Austin, Brynn, and Rhianna; many extended family members and friends. Her family will receive friends to celebrate this strong woman who everyone loved, on Wednesday, July 10, from 12-1pm at Cotner Funeral Home, 7369 East Main Street, Reynoldsburg, with her service to begin at 1pm. Pastor Dennis Barnhart officiating. Graveside service to follow at Betzer Cemetery.
