Jack Funk Obituary

Jack L. Funk, 94, passed away peacefully January 8, 2023, the ninth anniversary of beloved wife Meg’s death. Jack was born January 4, 1929, in Senacaville, Ohio to William and Mary Helen (Terrell) Funk, as the youngest of six children.

After graduating from Chauncey High School in 1946, Jack served four years in the United States Marines. He married Mary Margaret Rivers in 1950 and started his career in the Printing Industry. They moved to Reynoldsburg, Ohio in 1960 where they raised their three children. Each summer they planned and took adventurous extended family vacations, and created wonderful memories their children cherish.

Jack loved sports and after retirement worked and volunteered at Reynoldsburg High School, managing athletic fields and equipment. He loved interacting with the coaches and student athletes, and especially spending time with his grandson Todd, sharing his love of nature and the outdoors.

Jack enjoyed hunting and fishing, and took up golf at the age of 60. He very much appreciated the hours he spent with his golf foursome. Jack had many friends and was very close to both of his son-in-laws, Jim Costello and David Dutro. Anyone who knew Jack loved him.

He is survived by daughters Merilea Dutro and Anita Costello (Jim), grandson Todd Dutro (Allison), great granddaughter Bailey Marie Dutro, nephew Bob Funk (Martha), and niece Kathy Sprott, as well as several more nieces and nephews.

Jack was preceded in death by wife Mary Margaret, his son Bradford, his parents, five siblings, and son-in-law David Dutro.

His family will receive friends on Saturday, January 21, from 10-11:30am at Cotner Funeral Home, 7369 East Main Street, Reynoldsburg, Ohio, with his memorial service to begin at 11:30am.
