Jack Burrell Smith, 87, of Columbus, passed away July 31st at Mt. Carmel East Hospital.
Jack was born August 25, 1936, in Ashland, OH, to parents, Roscoe and Lois (Turner) Smith. He graduated from Centerburg High School in 1954, joining the Air Force and served until 1961, marrying the love of his life, while on leave in 1957. Jack started in the insurance industry working for Motorist Mutual, then working for Atkins Dauksch/Corroon & Black Insurance Agency. He started his own agency in 1979, All Ohio Insurance Agency, where he and Ruth worked side-by-side until their retirement in 2003. They enjoyed traveling the world and spending time with their 8 grandchildren.
Jack is preceded in the death by his parents, siblings, Anita, George, Joe, Sally, Sam and Dan. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Ruth (O’Neal), children, Susie (Mark) Rovnak, Cindy Deliz, Janet Annis, Greg (Sheila) Smith, grandchildren, Anthony (Rachael) and Christopher (Emily) Deliz, Drew (Gina) Harris, Paige (Kyle) Rovnak-Carter, Nathan and Amanda (Rick) Annis, Alex Smith, Jaci (Daniel) Straty, great grandchildren, Aedan Deliz, Aria Straty, Zoe Harris, Oliver and Damian King, and Jack Deliz.
A graveside inurnment service will be held for Jack on Wednesday, August 7, 2024 at 2:00pm at Eastview Cemetery, 0 Croton Rd. Centerburg, OH 43011 with Pastor Dustin Fulton officiating.
Memorial donations in Jack's memory may be made to the Central Ohio Diabetes Association.
