Jack R. Speakman

Jack R. Speakman, 86 of Reynoldsburg, OH, died at home Wednesday December 22, 2021 while under the care of Mt. Carmel Hospice. Jack was born on Friday, September 13, 1935 in Columbus, OH to the late John E. & Doris (Fess) Speakman. He was a West High School graduate in January of 1955. After High School he joined the United States Air Force and served for 8 years. Following his time in the Air Force, Jack worked as a Guard at the Ohio State Penitentiary for about 3 years, and then moved on and joined the Bexley Police Department. There he dedicated 28 years of his life as a Police Officer. Jack was a lifetime member of the FOP Lodge #9. He was also a member of Messiah Lutheran Church, Reynoldsburg, Ohio.

Jack was an avid reader & spent many hours with his nose in a good book. However, he really loved the outdoors; especially fishing & hunting with his many hunting dogs he owned over the years.

Jack is preceded in death by his parents; his brother Robert Lee “Slim” from Arizona. Those left to carry on his legacy include his brother Don Speakman of Mansfield & his sister Lorrie Ann Jackson (Fess) of FL. He is also survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Patricia Speakman (Thimmes); his daughters Terri Lynn Dishman (Speakman) of NE & Pamela K. Taylor (Speakman) of Reynoldsburg, OH; three granddaughters, Amie N. Bowman of Florida, Amanda N. Bowman of IA and Brittany N. Tresco of FL; eight great-grandchildren, Ava Lynn, Alex, Aiden, Chase, Iann, Kalie, Zoey & Hunter.

Jack’s family will receive friends 10-11 a.m Saturday January 15, 2022 at Messiah Lutheran Church 1200 Waggoner Rd. Reynoldsburg, OH 43068 where his Memorial Service/Celebration of Life will be held at 11 a.m. with Pastor Karl Hanf, officiating. Arrangements under the care of Cotner Funeral Home, Reynoldsburg.

We wish to thank all of the wonderful Mt. Carmel Hospice team that helped care for our beloved Jack. He is and will always be missed by his family and friends.
