James Bolyard, Sr. Obituary

James Richard Bolyard, Sr, 61, was called home to be with the Lord on Monday, May 8, 2023. He was born on February 20, 1962 to Richard C. and Martha J. Bolyard in Spokane, Washington. He was a 1980 graduate of Hope High school in Hope, North Dakota. Shortly after graduating High school, he was hunting and was involved in a shooting accident which resulted in him losing his leg. The loss of his leg never slowed him down, he kept pushing forward. His family moved from North Dakota to Ohio in 1983 where he attended Devry University and received his Bachelor’s degree in 1987 for Computer Science.

He was very involved in the community of Reynoldsburg by being a long-time member of the Reynoldsburg Lions Club, his second family. He loved participating in a lot of the community events, such as Christmas on the Towne, Super Braxton 5K, Community Halloween Party, Easter egg Hunt, just to name a few. One of his favorite events was the Lions Club Turkey Shoot where he got to do one of his favorite things, shooting a gun. One of his greatest accomplishments in his life as a Lion was receiving the prestigious honor of the Melvin Jones Fellowship Award in 2017. Some of his favorite hobbies were hunting, fishing, watching football, volunteering in the community, and most of all, spending time with his 2 sons and other family members. Anyone who met James loved him, and he made sure they felt valued. His loss is going to effect so many people, he will definitely be missed.

James was preceded in death by his loving parents Richard C. Bolyard and Martha J. Bolyard. Survivors include his sons James (Victorya) Bolyard, Jonathon Bolyard, brothers Robert Bolyard, Lee (Debbie) Bolyard, sister Rose (Neal) Bennett, many nephews, nieces, uncles, aunts, and cousins.
