James Menix Obituary

James Landis Menix entered peacefully into eternal rest on December 8, 2025 at the age of 85.

Born in Grayson, Kentucky, to the late Oscar and Kate Menix, James was a devoted husband, father, grandad and great grandad. He lived a life full of love, faith and kindness.

He is preceded in death by his beautiful wife of 59 years Patricia Menix. Together, they built a beautiful family and a legacy of love that will endure for generations.

James was a proud father and will lovingly be remembered by his five children: James(Wanda), Maria (Eddie), John (Joely), Jennifer (Mark) and Joseph (Devon). His unwavering support and guidance shaped their lives, and his wisdom will continue to inspire them. He is also survived by his loving grandchildren—Jessica, Anthony, Taylor, Haley, Kayla, Moira, Sean, Patrick, Sydney, and Andrew—along with 7 great-grandchildren.

A retired railroad worker from Norfolk Western, James dedicated many years to a career marked by hard work and commitment. Away from work, he found joy in the great outdoors. He loved to fish, garden and spend time with his family.

James was known for his infectious laughter and quick wit. He loved a good joke, and his sense of humor was always well received, bringing smiles to family and friends.  His laughter was a gift that brightened every gathering.

And when it came to steel-tip darts, James wasn’t just good—he was a little bit legendary. With a mischievous grin and a steady hand, he could turn a friendly game into a masterclass, leaving his opponents wondering how he made it look so easy. Those dart nights were just another way he showed his fun-loving spirit.

Though he has departed his earthly life, his memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved him. May you rest in eternal peace Dad in the arms of our Lord.

A Funeral Mass for Jim will be celebrated  at Holy Cross Cemetery Chapel, with Msgr. Pat Gaughan celebrant. At the request of the family all services are private. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery.
