James Marvin Williams, Jr.

James “Jim” Marvin Williams Jr. of Blacklick, Ohio; known with much love as Papa, transitioned peacefully at home from this life to the precious arms of Jesus early Tuesday morning, February 25, 2025 after a 4 year battle with Parkinsons. He was born in Abbeville, SC on July 4th, 1939 to Kathryn and Marvin Williams, graduated from Abbeville High School in 1957 and Erskine College in 1962. He then enlisted in the US Navy where he served as an aviator. He was always very proud of his service to his country and that he survived an ejection and jet crash.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 56 years Sandy, son Charley (Sheri), daughter Kathryn (Tim) and his greatest joys, the ones who called him Papa; Sydni (Garrett) , Noah, Levi, Cassidy (Cole), Jacob, JC and Caleb and great grandsons Colton and Oakley. His furry friend Molly also brought him lots of love and joy!

After 33 years of service, he retired from the Trane Company in Raleigh, NC in 2001. While living in Raleigh, Jim faithfully served the Lord at Raleigh Christian Community and Crossroads Fellowship. Wherever Jim and Sandy lived, they were very active in their local church. Serving with joy at Emmaus Church in Jacksonville Fl and Grace Fellowship, in Blacklick, Ohio. Jim loved the Lord wholeheartedly after surrendering his life to Him in July, 1969. He was a good and faithful servant! 

His family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Grace Fellowship Jefferson Campus, 3600 N Waggoner Rd., Blacklick, Ohio on Tuesday, March 4, 2025 where his funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. Jim’s service to his country will be honored as he’s laid to rest at Dayton National Cemetery, Dayton, Ohio, March 5, 2025.
