James Martin Massengale, age 77 passed away December 26, 2020 in Reynoldsburg OH. He was a graduate of Somerset High School, Somerset, KY class of 1961, where he played football. Also, a graduate of Sinclair Community College in Dayton, OH. Jim spent 20 years in the Air Force as an Electronic/Radar Technician and 20 years with the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) as a Quality Assurance Specialist. He retired from Defense Supply Center Columbus (DSCC) in 2002. Jim was a lifetime member and Past Commander of the Pickerington American Legion Post 283. Also, a patron of the Reynoldsburg VFW Post 9473.
Preceded in death by his parents, Shelby and Alta Massengale; brothers, Robert (Bob) and William (Bill); sister, Jean and granddaughter, Hannah Porter.
Survived by his wife of 21 years, Sharon; daughter, Melanie Massengale; son, Edward (Colleen) Fortenberry; half sister, Jane Hill; stepdaughter, Marcy (Bill) Erhard; stepson, Robert (Wavey) Erhard; 5 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Jim (Santa) will be truly missed.
A private service will be held for family at the Cotner Funeral Home 7369 E. Main St Reynoldsburg, OH and burial at Dayton National Cemetery.
