Jean Kirschner Ryan Obituary

Jean Ellen (Wright) Kirschner Ryan, age 98, resided in Reynoldsburg, OH for 51 years and went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on July 1, 2025.  She was born on the family farm in Canal Winchester, OH to Harold and Carrie Wright on Dec.17, 1926.  She is a Jan. 1945 graduate of Columbus South High School.  Jean married her high school love, Robert L. Kirschner.  Bob predeceased Jean at age 47.  In 1977, she married a widower, Thomas J. Ryan, who predeceased her at age 59.  She is also predeceased by her brother, Herbert Wright, and her devoted niece, Lynn Wright of Hollywood, FL.  Always active in service to others, Jean earned the Girl of the Year award from her sorority, where she held every office, including chapter president. She served as PTA president at two school levels, as well as District V.P. of Columbus PTA Council.  A faithful servant to Jesus Christ, she taught Sunday School, held offices on the church board, wrote newsletters, conducted women’s spiritual retreats, and being an intercessory prayer warrior herself, led workshops on prayer.  She also dedicated many years to being a devoted caregiver to family members.  Jean enjoyed preparing healthy food for her family and, being a voracious reader, she took pleasure in sharing her uplifting Christian books with friends, directing others closer to the Savior.  She is survived by loving sons, Randall L. (Vicky) Kirschner and Rick L. Kirschner, grandsons, Eric Robert (Kathryn) Kirschner and Joseph Lee Kirschner, and great-grandchildren, Claire and John Kirschner.  Memorial contributions may be given to the Salvation Army or Charity Newsies.  Honoring Jean’s wishes, there will be no visitation or public funeral service.  Private interment will be at Green Lawn Cemetery.  To share memories or send condolences, visit Cotner Funeral Home at www.cotnerfuneralhome.com.

Jean’s life verse comes from Luke 10:11,

“But one thing is needful: and Mary (Jean) hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her.”
