Jeffrey William Payne, 69, of Groveport, Ohio passed away peacefully at his home on February 25, 2021, surrounded by his four children and other family and loved ones.
Jeffrey (Jeff) was born to William and Lillian (Grace) Payne in Reynoldsburg, Ohio. He graduated from Reynoldsburg High School in 1969. Jeff served in the Army during the Vietnam War as a radio operator and later as a tank commander and drill sergeant. He was stationed in various places during his time in the Army including Alaska, Germany, California and Alabama.
After leaving the Army, Jeff earned a degree in Business Management from Franklin University. He was employed by Sherwin Williams for many years.
Jeff was predeceased by his father, William Hartley Payne, his grandparents, Robert and Ruth Clark, and Freddie and Francis Goldsberry.
He is survived by his mother, Lillian (Grace) Payne, his four children, Trevor (Terri) Payne, Heather Conley, Jessica Lowery (Jonathan), and Joshua (Crystal) Payne, his 11 grandchildren, Ashley (Alex), Kelcie, Makayla (Kirklan), Sydney, MacKenzie, Morgan, Colbey, Avari, Reagan, Lucas, and Scarlett, and his 3 great grandchildren, Anabella, Oaklan, and Emmalyn. Other survivors include his 2 sisters, Kay Payne and Kimberly (Angie) Payne, niece, Jennifer (Nick) Caudill, and many other family members and friends.
Jeff’s family will receive friends 4-6 p.m. Monday, March 1, 2021 at Cotner Funeral Home 7369 East Main Street, Reynoldsburg where his funeral will follow at 6 p.m.
