Jerome W. "Jerry" Pocta

Jerome W. “Jerry” Pocta, 86, passed away May 26, 2024, at Mother Angeline McCrory Manor, Columbus, OH, under the care of Mt Carmel Hospice. He passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side.

Jerry was born October 21, 1937 in Cleveland, OH to the late Frank and Wilma (Krejci) Pocta. He was predeceased by his sister and brother-in-law Lynn and Bob Rizer. Survived by loving wife of 54 years, Susan, children Kimberly (Doug) Borror, Deborah (Tom) Dugan, Darren Pocta. Grandchildren Michael (Erin) Dugan, Chris Dugan, Andrew Pocta, Tyler Pocta, Cameron Pocta, Dani (Zac) Sugarman, Donald Borror. Great Grandchildren Quinn and Chase Sugarman, loving nieces, nephews and cousins.

Jerry graduated from Case Western Reserve, Cleveland, OH with a degree in Electrical Engineering. He was employed by Western Electric/AT&T/Lucent Tech. for 40 years where he earned the prestigious rank of Distinguished Member of Technical Staff (DMTS). 

Jerry was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He loved to work in his yard and garden. He was an OSU and Blue Jackets fan, he loved the Cincinnati Bengals and Reds, but nothing compared to spending time with his family and friends. For many years he coached girls youth softball and boys youth soccer teams for the Reynoldsburg Recreational Dept.

His family will receive friends on Thursday, May 30, from 11am-1pm at Cotner Funeral Home, 7369 East Main Street, Reynoldsburg, where his funeral service will begin at 1pm. Graveside service to follow at Glen Rest Memorial Estate.
