Jerry Lee Tomlison, Sr.

Jerry Lee Tomlison, Sr. was born on June 8, 1940, in Pike County, Ohio. He
grew up in Lucasville, OH, and first met Lois Smith when they were in
elementary school. Jerry and Lois graduated together from Valley High
School in Lucasville in 1958. They began dating after graduation and married
on July 30, 1960, at the Church of Christ in Christian Union there in
Lucasville. They lived in the Lucasville area and Jerry worked for his dad in
the construction business.
In 1961, they had their first child, Jerry Lee Jr. In 1963, they moved north
to Whitehall, OH. It was then they began attending the Reynoldsburg Church
of the Nazarene. They were very involved in the life of the church for many
years. Until Jerry passed away, he and Lois still attended Sunday School as
often as they were able.
After moving to the Columbus area, Jerry got a job driving a truck for Kroger
and worked for them for almost 36 years.
They moved from Whitehall to the Groveport area and eventually bought
land in Groveport where they built a home and Jerry began farming as a
second career. Their second son, Christopher, was born in 1974.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Paul E. and Avenelle Tomlison
and his in-laws Wilson (Brownie) and Elizabeth Smith. He is survived by his
wife of almost 63 years, Lois, his sons, Jerry Lee (Saundra) Tomlison and
Christopher Tomlison, and his grandchildren Jacob (Laura) Tomlison, Abigail
Tomlison, Andrea Sparks, Alex (Leslie) Tomlison, Wilson and Colton
Tomlison, Bent, Chase, and Emily Tomlison. Great grandchildren include
Henri Tomlison, Isabela Hayburn, Daniel and Kiah Sparks, and Luke and Ava
Tomlison. He is also survived by his god-daughter Susan Smith, his sisters
Anna (Don) Simones and Judy (Bud) Moffet, and his step-sister Laura Huff.

His family will receive friends Wednesday, May 31, from 3-6 p.m. at the Reynoldsburg Church of the Nazarene, 1340 Crest Street, Reynoldsburg, where his service will follow at 6:00 p.m.  Jerry will be laid to rest at the Scioto Township Cemetery in Lucasville on Thursday, June 1, at 12 noon.
