Joan Overholt

Joan Overholt, 87, of Columbus, Ohio, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family. Born on July 10, 1938, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Joan was a vibrant and creative soul who brought warmth and joy to everyone she met.

A proud graduate of Norristown High School, Class of 1956, Joan lived a life full of love, artistry, and adventure. She was a gifted artist who found joy in painting ceramics and expressing herself through crafts such as crocheting, gardening, sewing, and scrapbooking. Her creativity was matched only by her deep love for her family and her zest for life.

Joan had a passion for travel and especially loved going on cruises, exploring the world with a sense of wonder and excitement. Her adventurous spirit and kind heart left a lasting impression on all who knew her.

She is survived by her devoted children: Steven (Ann) Selfinger, Garry (Terri) Selfinger, Sherry Susi, and Brenda (Steve) Caniff. Joan was a cherished grandmother to Chris (Mandy) Selfinger, Orlando (Nina) Susi, Christin (Chad) Thatcher, Maria Susi, Jennifer Selfinger, Garrett Selfinger, Steven (Lisa) Selfinger, Scott (Kerry) Selfinger, Joel Selfinger, Sean Selfinger, Stephanie (Salvador) Ochoa, Rachel (Elias) Hernandez, Brian Selfinger, Evan Caniff, Tyler Caniff, and Samantha Caniff.

Her legacy continues through her great-grandchildren: Julia, Sarah, Laura, Elena, Merrick, Abigail, Reese, Scarlet, Kate, Madison, Jameson, Avery, Oliver, Mason, Cato, Drago, and Mateo.

Joan was preceded in death by her beloved son Robert Selfinger and granddaughter Darline Selfinger. She was also a loving sister and a dear friend to many, always ready with a warm smile, a kind word, and a helping hand.

Joan’s life was a beautiful tapestry of love, creativity, and family. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

Her family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 16, from 5-8pm at Cotner Funeral Home, 7369 East Main Street, Reynoldsburg, where her funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 17, at 11am. Graveside service to follow at Glen Rest Memorial Estates, Reynoldsburg, Ohio.
