John Thomas Hentz, Jr. was called home to his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, January 24, 2023. John was 96 years young and is now singing with the choir of angels. His beautiful voice and smile will be missed dearly. He was a faithful Catholic and a faithful citizen.
John's love for this nation was profoundly displayed every day with his military cap upon his head. John proudly served during WW II in the United States Air Corps. He was proud of his journey on the WW II Honor Flight. In 1951, he graduated with a degree in business from The Ohio State University! O-H-I-O! He retired from ODOT as an appraiser, he was the R/W Specialists President, a designated member of the American Society of Appraisers, Sir Knight John Thomas Hentz was a Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus and a 60+ years choir member of St. Pius X Catholic Church in Reynoldsburg, Ohio.
John was a loving family man that raised two sons.
Preceded in death by his loving wife, Ann and son, Chris Hentz.
John is survived by his son, Richard Hentz; daughter in-law, Malinda Hentz; grandchildren: Christine (Mark) Schroeder, David Hentz, Sarah (Cory) Havens, Nicole (Jole) Bear, Rachel (Chris) D'Orsi, Alex Hentz, Jake Hentz; great grandchildren: Blaise D'Orsi, Jaxon Havens, Axel Havens. Uncle Bud to: Rita (Bob) Borton, Bob (Jeanne) Hentz, Linda (Ed) Doran, Ron (Loretta) Hentz, Barabara Urenovich, Jane (Nevin) Myers.
He is survived by Ann's family: Beth Parsons, David Holtom, Linda (Mark) Bryant, Andrew (Michele) Holtom, Jennifer (Tony) Bilderback, Brian (Ginger) Parsons, Sarah (Ed) French, David HoltomJr., Kelly (Josh) Stroud, Michael (Jessica) Lyon, Andrea (Chris) Kavalieros, Alison (Steven) Hughes, Andrew Bryant, Bethany Bryant, Josh (Tara) Bryant, Nick (Jenna) Holtom, Alex Holtom, Joe Holtom, Austin, Hannah and Lacey Bilderback, Jared Parsons, Morgan and Colton French, Taya Haile, Jordan and Josh Stroud Jr., Natalie Lyon, Lincoln and Hart Kavalieros and Kai Holtom.
John is, also, survived by many loving family members and friends.
John's family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 1, 2023 from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Cotner Funeral Home, 7369 E. Main St. Reynoldsburg, OH. A Mass of Christian Burial for John will be held on Thursday, February 2, 2023 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 1051 South Waggoner Road, Reynoldsburg, Ohio 43068 with Father David Young celebrating. Interment will follow his mass at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery, 11539 National Road, Etna, Ohio 43062
