Jonnie L. Hite, 89, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 24, 2026. He was born on December 2, 1936 in Columbus, Ohio at home with his parents Theodore and Mable (Wallace) Hite. He grew up in a large family on eleven, and as a young man was drafted into the Army. He served in the Korean War, and was honored to be a United States Army Veteran. Jonnie fell in love with his wife of 68 years, Susan. He began working for UPS where he was one of their first driver. Upon his retirement from the company, he was their longest running employee. Jonnie and Susan grew their family. He loved spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He loved the Ohio State Buckeyes and enjoyed family gatherings where they celebrated his team. He loved old western movies and John Wayne, you could even hear him quote a movie or two. Nothing meant more to him than family. His grandchildren were the light of his life. He will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is preceded in death by his parents and many siblings. Jonnie is survived by his loving wife Susan; son Jonnie Hite, Jr.; daughter Judy (Gary) Hunt; sister Beverly (Michael) Loughridge; former daughter in law Ellie Hite; grandchildren Corey Hite, Katie (Dylan) Sellers, Madison (Ezra) DeZurik, Megan Hite, Josh Hunt, Jeff (Sydney) Hunt, and Heather Hunt; great-grandchildren Tanner, Isabella, Rennick, Ryley, and Hadley; close friend Atticus Evans; many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends. His family would also like to give a heartfelt thank you to Primrose Retirement Community and Staff for all of their love and care through this time.
His family will be having viewing hours from 9-10am on Tuesday, June 30, visitation from 10-11am, and his funeral service to begin at 11am. Graveside service to follow at Glen Rest Memorial Estates. Donations in his memory to Angel Works.
