Joyce Ann Wiest (Byer)

Joyce Ann Wiest (Byer), age 82 of Reynoldsburg, Ohio, beloved mother, grandmother and friend, went to be with the Lord and her adored husband unexpectedly on December 31, 2023.

Joyce was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Richard A. Wiest. She and Richard (Dick) met in Columbus in 1960 and married on December 1, 1962. They enjoyed a happy and full life in Reynoldsburg with their three children. Joyce is also preceded in death by her beloved father, Woodrow C. Byer, her sister, Norma Papa, and many close relatives and friends.

She is survived by her son John (Nichole) Wiest and daughters Tammy (Jeff) Mounts and Shelly Wiest. She also leaves behind her grandchildren, Josh (Haley) Vest, Tia (Jordan) Rhymer, Ben, Piper and Tabitha Wiest and four beautiful great-granddaughters. She’s also survived by many dear relatives and lifelong friends like Martha Prater and Kay Hill.

Anyone who knew Joyce knew that she was a very social person. She loved spending time with friends, family and passerby, having a natural ability to connect with others and make them laugh. She was active in her all-women’s card club for 50+ years. She loved shopping, thrifting (or, as she called it, junking) and decorating (then redecorating!) her home. Music held a special place in her life; she loved listening and singing to music, from Elvis to gospel hymns. Together with Richard, she enjoyed going on drives and walking their cherished basset hound Millie around their neighborhood.

Joyce would want everyone to rejoice and be happy as she’s now reunited with her husband, dad and departed friends and family in the light, peace and eternal joy in the Kingdom of God; however, she will truly be missed.

Her family will receive friends Friday, January 5 from 10-11:30 a.m. at Cotner Funeral Home, 7369 East Main Street, Reynoldsburg, Ohio with her service to follow at 11:30 a.m.
