June Burt Obituary

June Burt, 96, of Gahanna, went peacefully home to be with our Lord, on Saturday, March 21, 2026. Her husband, Kenny, by her side, faithfully holding her hand, and family surrounding her with love.

She was born on September 20, 1929 to the late Oscar and Elsie (Cunningham) Ruzicka. She graduated from South High and went on to become a secretary of a law firm in downtown Columbus.

She and Kenny met at the YMCA during a bodybuilding competition he was entered in, where he saw her from across the room in a fur coat, looking like a debutante and he felt sure she was way out of his league. However, they married the following year in 1952, and started a family in 1953.

June decided to step away from work and be a devoted mother to her four beautiful children. She enjoyed sewing when the kids were young and even made many of their clothes. She enjoyed taking the kids to the pool and having fun adventures as a family. After all of their children were grown and had started families of their own, she went back into the workforce at SCOA, where she worked until she retired years later.

June and Kenny built their permanent house that they made into a home in 1963. This is where they raised their children and introduced grandchildren. They enjoyed yard work and had a pristine lawn with beautiful flower beds. They enjoyed entertaining the family get-togethers in the backyard/patio, with BBQ and badminton competitions within the family.

June and Kenny enjoyed cruises to Jamaica and the Virgin Islands. But theirs hearts fell in love with NYC. These trips were their favorite and they loved all the lights, sounds, food and especially the Broadway shows.

June loved to get lost in a great novel, would watch Everybody Loves Raymond reruns, and enjoy it like it was the first time she had seen the episode. She also enjoyed a great cup of coffee and a cold beer (limit 1), Schmidt's cream puffs, Italian spaghetti, and most of all, her family.

She cared so deeply for her family, and Kenny said it is what she talked about most often, always thinking about everyone else, and wanting the best for every one of her precious loved ones.

June was in a class all her own. Refined, distinguished, polished, poised, and had a natural beauty that lit up a room. She was always put together in her dress suits and pumps, with just a touch of makeup to highlight her natural beauty. She was such a light in this world and her presence will be greatly missed.

She is preceeded in death by her parents and her sister, Marlene Siddle. June is survived by her husband, Kenneth “Kenny” Burt; children Pam (Bill) Krejci, Lisa Burt, David Burt, Karen (Jeff) Hoffman, Valerie Burt, niece Carla Dolan, many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Her family will receive friends on Thursday, March 26, 2026 from 11am-1pm at Cotner Funeral Home, 7369 East Main Street, Reynoldsburg, OH 43068. Graveside service to follow at Mifflin Township Cemetery, Gahanna, Ohio.
