Kathleen Louise (Mullen) Van Gundy

Kathleen Louise (Mullen) Van Gundy passed away suddenly at her home in Reynoldsburg, Ohio, on Sunday, December 21st, 2025 after years of battling chronic conditions and the residual effects of treatment for Hodgkin's Lymphoma, which she overcame in 2019. 

Kathy was born August 3, 1958 in Singapore and enjoyed an idyllic childhood in Towson, Maryland. She attended the Bryn Mawr School for Girls in Baltimore and later graduated from Denison University in Granville, Ohio, where she met her husband of 40 years, Harold Van Gundy. After graduation, Kathy worked for the Communications Department at Capital University. 

Upon the birth of her first child, she dedicated her life to motherhood while also enjoying many other pursuits, including homemaking, gardening, reading, cooking, volunteering, needlepointing, and spending time in the woods with her dogs. Kathy was a mother to all who knew her, but especially to her beloved daughters, Cheska Kathleen and Kristen Louise Van Gundy. She was preceded in death by her mother, Beatrice Louise (Linnig) Mullen, and her father, William Edward Mullen. She is survived by her two daughters and husband, her brothers Paul (Deborah) Mullen and Michael (Jane) Mullen, brother-in-law Clifford Van Gundy, nieces Laura (Jason) Wurzbacher, Jennifer (Andy) Gill, nephew Andrew Mullen, and great-niece Edie Wurzbacher.

Kathy will always be remembered for her kindness, generosity, wit, and love of crossword puzzles, murder mystery novels, and parking spots in the shade.
