Kenneth Howell, age 88, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 7, 2026. He was born on January 31, 1938 to Ely and Dorotha Howell.
Ken was the beloved husband of Judy Wilson Howell, his devoted wife of 63 years. Together they built a life rooted in love, laughter, and unwavering commitment to family. He was a proud father to Scott and Diane Howell Allen (Jason), and a cherished grandfather to Kenny (Kaitlin, Cora, Lily), John (Diamond, Juliet), Corey (Tehya, Oliver, and soon-to-be Millie), and Keely (Matt). His children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were the joy of his life, and their accomplishments filled him with immense pride and happiness.
Ken grew up in West Liberty, OH where he developed his love of athletics playing basketball. He went on to serve his country honorably in the United States Navy from 1956 to 1960 as a radioman aboard the USS Henderson. Following his discharge, he married Judy and began a lifetime partnership that would span more than six decades. In 1966, they moved to Reynoldsburg, where they planted deep roots in their community.
Ken worked for AT&T Long Lines for 30 years, providing dedication and support to the telecommunications industry before retiring: not to slow down, but to devote his time to helping care for his beloved grandchildren. Being present in their daily lives, attending all competitions, achievements, and important milestones was one of his greatest joys.
A lifelong sports enthusiast, Ken was a passionate supporter of the Ohio State Buckeyes and rarely missed the opportunity to watch a game. More importantly, he poured his heart into supporting youth athletics. He coached his children in baseball, softball, and basketball and spent a lifetime giving back through the Reynoldsburg Schools Athletic Boosters, the Friday Night Chain Gang, and numerous Raider activities. His dedication helped shape the experiences of countless young athletes.
Ken also had a passion for cars, especially fast ones. He loved street rods and Nascar. For over four decades, he faithfully attended the Indianapolis 500, creating lasting memories alongside his son, grandsons, and his Indy crew buddies. He enjoyed camping, long walks on the beach, and any time spent outdoors with those he loved.
Known for his generous spirit, strong character, quick wit, and a touch of ornery charm, Ken had a heart for others and a steadfast commitment to family. His presence was constant, his humor unforgettable, and his love unmistakable.
Family and friends may call from 4:00-5:30 p.m., on Thursday, February 12, with a service to follow at 5:30 p.m., at the Cotner Funeral Home in Reynoldsburg.
He leaves behind a legacy of service, laughter, and deep devotion to family and friends.
