Larry Cook Obituary

Larry Cook, age 74, went home to be with the Lord on July 18, 2025, at Grant Hospital in Columbus, Ohio, peacefully and surrounded by the love of his family.

Born in Lackey, Kentucky, Larry was the son of Rufus Cook and Anna Cook (Fout). A well-esteemed musician, recording artist, music engineer, and producer, Larry devoted his life to magnifying God through worship. More than a gifted guitarist and worship leader, he was a warrior in the faith. His passion for worship and unwavering devotion to Jesus left a lasting imprint on everyone who encountered him.

Larry carried the presence of God with humility and strength, leading others into worship not only through his music, but through the life he lived. His faith was not only inspiring—it was deeply convicting. He lived with purpose, compassion, and joy, always pointing people back to the heart of the Father.

He faithfully served at The Rock Church (Jackson, OH; Parkersburg, WV; Columbus, OH), where he became a spiritual father, pillar, and servant. Larry’s legacy continues through every life he touched and every note he played in worship to the King.

Larry was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Bonnie Cook; his parents, Rufus and Anna; his brother, Luke Cook; and his son, Jason Cook.

He is survived by his children: Josh Cook (Tali Anderson) and Heather Penha (Ebenezer Penha); his grandchildren: Mikayla Sullivan (Todd Sullivan), Aliana Penha, Sarah Bradley (Chase Bradley), and Logan Cook; and his great-granddaughters: Luna Sullivan and Mia Sullivan.

We rejoice knowing that Larry is now worshiping face to face with the One he so faithfully served. His reward in Heaven is great.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, July 26th at 10:00 AM at The Rock Columbus (with a viewing beginning at 9:00 AM). A burial ceremony will follow immediately in Coalton, Ohio.
