Leota R. Bailey

It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of LEOTA, who departed this life on February 15, 2025 at the age of 100. She was a beloved great-grandmother, grandmother, mother, baby sister of 8 sibling’s, aunt, and friend who touched the lives of many with her kindness, wisdom, and unwavering love.  

Born on September 16, 1924, in Columbus Ohio, LEOTA lived a life full of grace and generosity. She devoted herself to her family, always offering guidance, warmth, and a comforting presence. Her legacy is one of strength, resilience, and an enduring love for those she held dear.

LEOTA was known for her faith in the Lord JESUS, love of meeting and talking with people, her love for music and tap dancing, she found joy in sharing meals, coffee and community involvement. Her home was always a place of warmth, filled with laughter and treasured memories. She will be remembered for her gentle spirit, her wise words, and the countless ways she enriched the lives of those around her.

She is survived by her daughter, Deana & Gary Smithers; son, Jeff & Holly Tyo,14 Grand Children, 37 Greats & 9 Great Greats all of whom will continue to cherish her memory and honor her legacy. She was preceded in death by her 1st born son Dean A. Hollis.

 A Visitation on Friday February 21, 2025 will begin at 10:30am at Calvary Apostolic Church 2551 West Schrock Rd Westerville Ohio 43081 followed by her funeral service at 12 Noon with Pastor Jimmy Stark officiating. Interment will follow at Silent Home Cemetery.

Though she is no longer with us in body, her love, wisdom, and kindness will remain in our hearts forever.
