Linda “Linny” Ann Elston was born July 29, 1954 in Morristown, New Jersey. Above all, Linda’s life was defined by her love for Jesus. She was a valiant person of faith who persevered in her journey to be more like Jesus. Sharing her love for Jesus was her passion, and she’d often be heard talking about Him to those around her in any given situation. Her passion is something we still feel, even after her passing, and will encourage us in our journey for years to come.
Linda grew up in Grace Baptist Church of Netcong, New Jersey. As an adult she was involved in the MOPS ministry, Evangelism Explosion, and a faithful church member. After moving to Ohio in 1992, Linda and her family served in a new church plant called The Gathering and later the Vineyard Church of Reynoldsburg/Vineyard Christian Church. She served the Lord faithfully through various ministries. Linda did everything from financial recording to children’s ministry, cooking and serving meals, prayer ministry, school supply outreaches and faithful membership were ways she exercised her spiritual gifts. She truly had a servant’s heart.
Through each trial and physical detriment Linda faced in life, she displayed incredible trust in Jesus, keeping her eyes fixed upward, and encouraging her friends, family and church family. As she grew in her faith, she also grew in her longing to be in her eternal home with Jesus and free from all her earthly restraints. On May 4, 2024, she went home to be with the Lord she served so faithfully.
Linda is survived by her loving husband, Don, her children, James Garrison and Patricia Morock (Robert), her grandchildren, Samantha (Darion) Stapleton, Madison Garrison, Aledria Holley, Caidance Morock, and Sophie Johnson, her parents, Morris and Patricia Sherrer, her sisters Helen Petry (Russ), Lori Duyn, her brothers, Richard Sherrer (Nancie), Timothy Sherrer (Amy), Bill Meininger Depew (Liz), many other brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, and great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Vineyard Christian Church in Columbus, Ohio on July 27 at 10:30 a.m.
