Lorraine Schwarz was born in West Reading, Pennsylvania in 1945 as the eldest daughter of Irene and Clarence Degler. She grew up in Hamburg, PA where she fell in love with Bob in 1956; married in 1961 with Lorrie and Linda arriving soon thereafter. This began Lorraine’s 62-year marriage odyssey of supporting her family as Bob entered the Army as a ‘Radio Technician’, learning what would become the fabric of what we now call ‘the internet’. She embraced the army base moves from NJ, Pittsburgh, El Paso, Tucson until they left the service in 1970. Lorraine took care of her mother-in-law (Mae) back in Hamburg while Bob attended ‘IBM Training’ in Endicott NY. This started their civilian trek throughout the information technology industry in Mechanicsburg, PA, Dayton and finally settled into Reynoldsburg, Ohio in 1998 (IBM, Blue Cross & Blue Shield, STC. and EDS).
Lorraine is survived by Robert Schwarz, and her younger sister, Claire Evangelista, along with her daughters, Lorrie Curtis (Wayne) of State College, PA and Linda Shawver (Mike) of Mitchell, South Dakata. Lorraine doted as often as she could on her grandchildren; Brandon, Matt, Erik and Jennifer Curtis; Rob, Chris and Ryan Shawver, who are scattered across the US. Lorraine’s legacy now includes six great-grand children … so far.
Lorraine’s memorial service will be held at Reynoldsburg Community Church, 1636 Graham Rd. Reynoldsburg, OH on Thursday, October, 19, 2023 at 11:00 am.
