Malachi Philip Preston, 16, of Pataskala, passed into the arms of his loving Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, at his home surrounded by the love of his family, on Sunday, September 1, 2024. He was born in Pittsburgh, PA on November 2, 2007 to Philip and April Preston.
Malachi was a Junior at Watkins Memorial High School and was loved by the school staff, teachers, and classmates. He was an honorary lifetime member of Warrior Rugby Football Club, and was the Watkins Memorial High School Sports Ambassador for his love of football and basketball. He loved being in his school band and enjoyed playing bocce with the West Licking Special Olympics.
Malachi was born with a heart defect (HLHS) and Williams Syndrome, but in spite of the many health challenges he trusted the Lord through it all. Malachi, which means Messenger of God, loved to listen to and talk about stories of the heroes of Faith from the Bible. His love for the Lord led him to tell others that Jesus died for their sins and paid their penalty on the cross so that they could be saved and be with the Lord for eternity.
Malachi was a regular attendee of Logos Bible Church in Pickerington. He loved singing worship music with his Church family and serving as a member of the drama team for yearly Vacation Bible Schools. Malachi also enjoyed attending Fairview Bible Church’s PA Youth Camp at WLD Ranch in Girard, Pennsylvania every summer with his youth group.
One of the special things about Malachi was his deep love for people and empathy for those that were hurting or suffering. He loved to ask questions and often knew just what to say to encourage those around him, even strangers.
He will be deeply missed by his parents, Philip and April (Langdon) Preston; sister, Jane Preston; brothers, Enoch and Titus Preston; grandmother, Athelene Pearl (Cunningham) Langdon; grandmother, Janet (Klepfer) Preston; many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Malachi is proceded in death by his grandfathers, Bill Langdon and Michael Preston; cousins, Eliana Frederick and Micah Preston.
Both the visitation and funeral service will be held at Logos Bible Church, 623 Hill Rd N Pickerington. Visitation hours will be Friday from 1-4 and 6-8 p.m. Funeral service will be Saturday at 10:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Pataskala Cemetery.
