Malik Shaheem Amar

Malik Shaheem Amar, 43, of Columbus, passed away on Wednesday, January 6, 2021. Malik was born on June 27, 1977 in West Virginia. He loved both music and movies. He worked as an electrician for many years. Malik was a family man who loved spending time with his family, and more than anything else being a father to his girls.

He is preceded in death by his parents Michael Gilliam and Janet Amar; cousin and best friend Lateef Amison; grandmother Mary Amar; grandfather Leonard Gilliam; uncle Curtis Amar.

He is survived by his daughters who he adored, Makala and Maleigha Amar and their mother Lisa Davis; sister Kenya Amar of Columbus, Ohio; grandmother Elizabeth Gilliam; aunt Brenda Amar and cousins Torin, Ahkeem and Kasha Amar; aunts Mary, Janice, Lenora and Belinda Gilliam: half-brother Kevin Gilliam; cousins Aldero, Shawanda, and Byron Amison; cousin Monse Amar; and many more extended family and a host of friends.

His family will receive friends on Saturday, January 16, from 3-4pm at Cotner Funeral Home, 7369 East Main Street, Reynoldsburg, Ohio, where his service will follow at 4pm.
