Maureen Shedenhelm (nee Stevens) was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. She passed away unexpectedly at Dublin Riverside Methodist Hospital on Sunday, January 16, 2022, at the age of 76.
Born and raised in Columbus, Ohio, Maureen grew up in the Eastmoor area and was a proud graduate of Columbus School for Girls where she met life-long friends. Proud too of her Irish heritage, she loved all things Irish, including celebrating St. Patrick’s Day with flair. And while attending The Ohio State University, Maureen met her best friend and the love of her life, Robert M. Shedenhelm.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Robert Stevens and Mary McMahon Stevens; Uncle Joe McMahon, who was like a father to her; brother-in-law, George Poffenbaugh; sister-in-law, Marlene Yetzer; and nephew, Marty Yetzer. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Robert M. Shedenhelm; sons, John (Maryanne) and Matt (Sandy) Shedenhelm; grandchildren, Cameron and Hunter Shedenhelm; sister, Gail Stevens; niece, Stephanie Tippett; sisters-in-law, Patricia (Bill) Papenbrock, Sheri(Terry) Gestrin, and Vicky (Frank Vogt) Poffenbaugh; brothers-in-law, Rick (Nancy) Shedenhelm and Dave Yetzer; and many nieces, nephews, and close friends.
Maureen’s family will receive friends and family on Tuesday, January 25, 2022, at Cotner Funeral Home in Reynoldsburg, Ohio, from 3-6 pm with a celebration of life service starting at 5:30pm.
