Merle E. Porter

Merle Edgar Porter, passed away at his residence on December 22, 2021. Merle was born on December 4, 1936 in Beaver, OH to the late John and Myrtle (Baugess) Porter. He was also preceded in death by his wife Nancy (Strider) Porter in 2014; his son, Danny in 1984 and five brothers and two sisters.

Merle is survived by his sons, Jerry (Lori) Porter, Richard (Sonja) Porter, John Porter and Darren (Terri) Porter; brother, Gene Porter; sisters, Janet Palenick and Paula Porter; eight grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

Merle owned Fibercraft Carpet Service for over 25 years. He was a graduate of Etna High School, class of 1955. He played football for Etna High School and was an All Licking County All Star in football, and he also played basketball for Etna High School. Merle was an avid Ohio State Buckeye fan as well as a Cleveland Browns fan. His favorite love was his family and spending time with his grandchildren.

A graveside inurnment service for Merle will be held on Thursday, December 30, 2021 at1:30PM at Etna Township Cemetery, Pike St. (Between Rt. 40 and Rt. 310) Etna Twp., OH 43018. Arrangements under the care of Cotner Funeral Home.
