Michael Lockard Obituary

Michael Scott Lockard, 74, passed away on June 14, 2024, at home surrounded by his family.

Mike is survived by the love of his life, wife Cindy; children Ryan Lockard, Stacy (Christian) Coburn, Lisa Lockard, step-sons; Jesse (Cassie) Morris, and Jacob (Sierra) Morris; grandchildren Jessica (Danny) Murphy, Courtney Lockard Pineda, Megan Lockard, Nicholas Coburn, Ayla, BriAnn, and Charlee Lockard, Jordy Morris and Baby boy Morris, great-grandchildren Landon, Logan, Sophia, and Jonah, lifelong friend Alicia (Baroody) Lockard and numerous friends and loved ones. Preceded in death by his parents, Myrtle M. Lockard Potts and Joseph S. Lockard.

Mike was an avid sportsman; after graduating from Johnstown High School in 1968 where he played football and baseball he entered the Navy. After serving his Country and with an Honorable Discharge, he returned to Columbus and worked for Rockwell International. He joined in the company’s weekly golf outings, softball games and bowling leagues.  After moving to Kentucky, Mike continued his golfing passion and played as often as possible in league tournaments and just for fun and shenanigans outings with his kids, son-in-law, co-workers, and friends. As a die-hard, life-long football fan he cheered for The Ohio State Buckeyes, the Green Bay Packers, and the Cleveland Browns.

With a care-free spirit and love of life Mike enjoyed sharing his adventures and appreciation of music with others; whether it was riding his motorcycle wherever the road led or while singing and dancing with his wife and granddaughters in the evenings on the patio. He never met a stranger and was always willing to help. With his charismatic personality, sense of humor and quick wit, he could add love, laughter, or well intentioned admonishment to any situation. Mike’s biggest joy was spending time and making life long memories with those he loved, “It is never good bye it is always later, Love you.”

A Celebration of Life will be held at a future date and time.
